Where are the best luxury spa hotels in Italy?
It depends what you want from the water. Abano Terme and Merano are the thermal towns — hot mineral pools, medical-grade spas, quiet. The Amalfi Coast and Lake Como trade on the view and the terrace. The Dolomites and South Tyrol pair serious alpine spas with mountain air. All four clusters are on this page.
When is the best time for a luxury break in Italy?
May to early June and September to October give you warm weather without August prices or crowds on the coast and lakes. The thermal towns and alpine spas are genuinely better in winter, when the contrast between cold air and hot water is the point.
