What counts as a luxury hotel in France?
Five-star hotels and properties from recognised luxury groups and collections — including the smaller boutique houses in Provence and the Loire, which are often the better stay even though they're not the bigger name. Each still has to pass our checks on wellness depth and guest score.
Which French ski resorts have the best luxury hotels?
Courchevel and Val d'Isère carry the deepest five-star inventory, with Megève and Chamonix close behind and rather more character. All four appear on this page, and each hotel page shows the season we've verified for that resort.
