Palm Springs and the desert have the deepest resort spas and the most reliable winter sun. Napa and Sonoma pair wine-country estates with serious treatment lists. Ojai and Santa Barbara are the quieter southern option, and Big Sur trades spa scale for the most dramatic setting on the coast.
When is the best time for a California luxury break?
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot almost everywhere: wine country is at its best either side of the September harvest, the desert is comfortable from October through May, and the coast is clearer in autumn than through the June fog.
Can I do a California luxury trip in a long weekend?
